An Interactive 5-Day Training Course

The Oxford Mini MBA in Agribusiness & Food Systems

An executive programme in agribusiness strategy, finance, operations, marketing and leadership for senior leaders and investors

Course Introduction

Agribusiness has moved up the executive agenda. Sovereign wealth funds, family offices, board-level sustainability commitments and national food security concerns have pulled the sector into senior conversations that were previously functional. Yet most agribusiness training is still organised by technical discipline — operations, agronomy, finance, processing — designed for the specialist rather than the senior generalist who needs to engage with the sector as a whole.

The Oxford Mini MBA on Agribusiness fills that gap. Built around the core disciplines of an MBA — strategy, finance, operations, marketing and leadership — applied specifically to the agribusiness sector, the training course gives senior executives the analytical frameworks and sector fluency they need to engage credibly with food and agriculture as part of a broader leadership role.

Objectives

By the end of this programme, delegates will be able to:

  • Apply industry-analysis frameworks (five forces, value chains, strategic positioning) to the agribusiness sector
  • Read and interpret agribusiness financial statements and investment proposals across asset classes
  • Map the global agricultural value chain and identify where margin concentrates and where it leaks
  • Evaluate cold chain, agro-processing, AgriTech, farmland and aquaculture investments using sector-appropriate risk and return frameworks
  • Analyse food consumer trends and translate them into commercial, brand and channel strategy
  • Apply the major regulatory frameworks (EUDR, CBAM, Halal, HACCP, ISO 22000) to commercial decisions
  • Build a strategic case for agribusiness investment, market entry or operational transformation
  • Lead change in agribusiness organisations and develop a personal strategic playbook for return to organisation

Training Methodology

A senior-executive programme combining strategic frameworks, case-method discussion, peer-learning sessions and one-to-one engagement with the lead instructor. The instructor adapts content to the delegate cohort and to current sector developments at the time of delivery, with a small selective cohort designed for active participation throughout. The programme includes a structured personal strategic plan that each delegate develops across the week.
