An Intensive 5-day Training Course
Maintenance Errors
Understanding and Preventing Human Error in Maintenance
Course Introduction
Human factors are the leading cause of failures and incidents in maintenance across various industries, including aviation, chemicals, oil & gas, energy, and transportation. Studies indicate that approximately 12% of aviation accidents are linked to maintenance errors, while 56% of forced outages in coal-fired power plants occur within a week after maintenance shutdowns. Additionally, power distribution companies report that 50-60% of system failures are attributed to maintenance-related errors.
Past incidents have shown that maintenance errors have contributed to major industrial accidents, often leading to safety hazards, environmental risks, operational downtime, and financial losses. Given these significant consequences, maintenance errors must be recognized as a business risk that requires structured management rather than being dismissed as unavoidable mistakes. While the risk of human error cannot be eliminated entirely, it can be effectively managed through proper training, planning, and the implementation of safety-focused strategies.
This Maintenance Errors training course provides participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to understand, analyze, and mitigate maintenance errors. The Oxford Management Centre training course explores why human errors occur, not just in performing maintenance tasks but also in planning, preparation, technical documentation, and asset engineering.
